The purpose of this role is to create timely and accurate data based mathematical models for reporting and analysis. This role will also be responsible for producing and maintaining analytical models in MLOps platform (Azure MLS). It will deliver value added data-based models that solve BHP's most complex problems including summarising and presenting findings/outcomes to leadership and key stakeholders for actioning.
Reporting to the Data & Analytics Manager, your core accountabilities will include: Determine the underlying/fundamental causes of operational problems and evaluate multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.Develop complex analysis and visualizations that drive innovation throughout the organization.Identify, engage and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.Define and develop algorithms for data mining, machine learning/mathematical models and statistical analysis.Build, update, enhance and maintain machine learning models in Azure Machine Learning platform (MLOps).About YouThe successful candidate will have experience performing data analysis while utilizing data analytic techniques to generate business insights and recommendations. You should have a passion for uncovering solutions hidden in large datasets using structured analytical problem-solving methodologies.
As a successful candidate you will possess the following: Degree in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related data/mathematical field. PhD or Master's Degree will be highly regarded.At least 5 years of relevant experience (preferably in mining).Demonstrated expertise in technical and data science, with strong strategic and analytical problem-solving skills.Extensive experience in applying advanced analytics to various business scenarios, with a proven ability to synthesize complex data and a deep understanding of modern machine learning techniques and their mathematical foundations, translating this into business insights for clients.Comfortable using modern development tools and collaborating on code (GIT, DevOps, MLOps).Proficient in managing projects, client relationships, and acting as a technical leader.Additional experience in core analytic methods such as predictive modeling, customer segmentation/clustering, network analysis, supply chain optimization, etc.Experience working with Python Programming.Experience working with SQL Programming.Relevant experience working with Snowflake or any other large Datawarehouse solution.Fluency in English and Spanish is required.About Our Process At BHP, we are committed to hiring individuals who align with our values charter.
