Role Summary: The Lathe Turner will be responsible for setting up and operating various machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This includes precision instrument makers who manufacture, modify or repair mechanical instruments. The role may also involve fabricating and modifying parts to manufacture or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, properties of metals, design and machining procedures. Responsibilities: Operate basic equipment and machines and perform routine tasks. Perform operational tasks following established processes. Assist in maintaining and repairing equipment by making preparations and providing assistance. Follow basic mandatory work instructions to safeguard the environment and the welfare of self and others. Follow a simple mandatory procedure to ensure work is carried out to required quality standards and/or to ensure compliance with external regulatory codes and internal codes of conduct. Interpret and use precision measuring equipment/instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators and depth gauges. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances. Exchange information with people through courteous interactions with them. Work with guidance to understand policies and procedures while ensuring they coincide with organizational strategies and objectives. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: HS Diploma / Mechanical Technician and 5-7 years of relevant experience. Blueprint reading and interpretation. Knowledge in dimensional analysis and metrology. Experience in managing personnel and team management. Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and technical drawings, safety standards, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and communicate clearly with co-workers, supervisors and customers. Exhibit a customer service mentality for on-time deliveries and quality workmanship. Basic computer aptitude to use/learn data entry systems and use Microsoft Office Package. Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed on short notice.
