Relocation Authorized: NoneTelework Type: Full-Time Office/ProjectWork Location: SantiagoJob Summary: In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical equipment packages in the copper concentrator plant, leading the mechanical team, developing interviews with customers and sellers to determine the scope of work, technical and design definitions, as well as quantity and cost estimates for the mechanical aspects of a project.
You will lead the progress control of the project, its administration, and management.
Necessary knowledge for design review, development, modification, and/or evaluation of mechanical components and processes and their interrelation with other disciplines is required.
Your recommendations will solve technical problems and ensure that the unique and complex requirements of the mechanical aspects of a project are met.
Major Responsibilities: Coordinating and managing the team of mechanics and technical leaders responsible for the documents and activities scheduled for the project.Reviewing and, if applicable, carrying out the design of equipment and mechanical systems for projects in the mining industry, including pumps (water and sludge distribution networks), grinding circuits, and others.Reviewing and, if applicable, performing calculations and analyses that lead to technical design recommendations.Responsible for material requests, specifications, data sheets, and other technical documents related to mechanical equipment procurement.Assisting and leading in the evaluation of suppliers and technical evaluations of tenders.Coordinating with mechanical designers to produce designs and drawings according to project standards.Coordinating and supervising with P&ID mechanical designers to produce drawings according to project standards.Coordinating the work and collaborating with other disciplines and engineering areas of the Company.Reviewing and/or developing conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.Providing technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interacting with project and customer functions to solve complex regulatory problems.Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Civil Engineering and a minimum of 15 years of specific relevant work experience in mining.
Required Knowledge and Skills: Experience in leading mechanical engineering development teams of mining projects (mandatory).Experience leading work teams (mandatory).Proven experience in process equipment of a copper concentrator (essential requirement).Field experience in the mining industry (required).Knowledge of dry and wet area equipment applied in mining industry processes (mandatory).Knowledge of the development and analysis of calculations of water networks and pulps.Knowledge of calculation development for air networks, air conditioning, tanks, and fire protection systems.Must effectively apply technical knowledge and skills to solve a variety of problems.Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks.Upper-Intermediate level of oral and written English (mandatory).Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.Diversity and Inclusion: As a global company, Bechtel is committed to being a workplace where every colleague feels that they belong.
