The National Office (NO) is in Santiago de Chile, with field presence in Iquique and Arica.
The NO Chile falls under the scope of the Multi-country Office (MCO) Argentina, located in Buenos Aires, that covers also Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay.In Chile, UNHCR collaborates with partners, government institutions, civil society and communities.
The focus is on ensuring international protection, advocating for integration, and promoting durable solutions for over 450,000 refugees, asylum-seekers, and others in need of international protection.
Special attention is given to working alongside hosting communities to promote peaceful coexistence, reduce xenophobic expressions, and foster positive social processes where both Chileans and newcomers collaborate for the benefit of their communities.The Senior CBI (Cash-Based Interventions) Assistant is based in Santiago, Chile, and will be part of the Programme Unit.
While directly supervised by the Associate Programme Officer, s/he will work in coordination with other members of the Programme Unit as well as the Associate CBI Officer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
S/he performs a variety of functions related to cash assistance activities within the office.
The incumbent will assist in monitoring the quality of the provision of cash assistance for the operation under area of responsibility.
S/he will be required to maintain strong relations with other units within UNHCR as well as operational partners and contractors working with UNHCR on the delivery of cash assistance to forcibly displaced people.The ideal candidate should also have the following desirable competencies, experience and/or knowledge:-Experience in large data management, analysis and reporting,-Previous experience with International or Non-Governmental Organisations,-Strong interpersonal and coordination skills,-Outstanding communication skills with colleagues, communities and other relevant stakeholders,-Sound knowledge of financial service providers in the Chilean context,-Previous experience in coaching and capacity building.
The successful candidate must be willing to travel within the country, and able to work in dynamic, multicultural and fast-evolving environments, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.This is a temporary appointment that will initiate in January 2025 for a six-months period.
