OVERVIEWPost Number : 3CLCLT0001RP Grade : P-3 Parent Sector : Field Office Duty Station: Santiago Job Family: Culture Type of contract : Fixed Term Duration of contract : 2 years, renewable Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 02-NOV-2024 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSTUnder the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture (ADG/CLT) and the direct supervision of the Director of the UNESCO Office in Santiago, the incumbent ensures the design, implementation and monitoring of the activities carried out under Major Programme IV - Culture in the countries covered by the Office in the context of internationally agreed development goals, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and within its efforts to build partnerships and ensure resource mobilization.
The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring UNESCO's contribution to the 'Delivering as One' exercise in the field of culture in the countries covered by the Office within the framework of the priorities to the inter-agency work defined for the Office, while positioning UNESCO in the United Nations relevant frameworks.
The incumbent contributes to the design, implementation, monitoring and reporting on programmes and projects as well as resource mobilization activities undertaken by the Office in the framework of UNESCO's global priorities (Africa and Gender Equality), and transversal thematic areas, such as Culture and Education, Culture and Climate Change, Indigenous Peoples, as well as for its priority groups (Small Island Developing States - SIDS, and Youth).Long DescriptionIn particular, the incumbent shall: Ensure the planning, management, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the Culture programme and corresponding workplans within the Office and the operational projects in the field of culture and Culture Conventions related activities.
Plan activities across the sub-region to ensure the delivery of the Culture programme in the country covered by the Office.
Contribute to the overall delivery of the Office's programme objectives and intersectoral working modalities.
Cooperate with the concerned Entities and staff members at Headquarters and in the Field and provide inputs.
Contribute to the development of policies, strategies and plans in the countries covered by the Office; lead appropriate activities to promote culture-engaged sustainable development, peace building and reconciliation; promote and support national capacity building in the field of culture through relevant training and activities; assist vulnerable groups and targeted professionals in the field of culture; contribute to the organization of international and regional conferences and meetings in line with the Office's strategy and countries' needs; promote the ratification and implementation of all UNESCO Culture Conventions.
Establish, develop and maintain strong and strategic relationships with the concerned national/local authorities, cultural institutions, academic institutions, relevant intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, bilateral and multilateral donors/partners, development banks, international organizations and institutions as well as civil society organizations and the private sector in the field of culture.
Long Description Identify, design, implement, monitor and report on projects to reinforce the Regular Programme through the mobilization of voluntary contributions and partnerships.
Draft official correspondence, project proposals briefings in view of programme design, implementation, monitoring and reporting to enhance the impact of UNESCO's activities.
Participate in joint programming exercises and in the inter-agency actions in the framework of the UN Reform and 'Delivering as One', such as Common Country Assessments/the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (CCA/UNSDCF).
Identify entry points for culture in the UN joint programmes and programming processes in line with national activities and needs, contribute to their design, implementation, monitoring evaluation and reporting.

Work Experience A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in the field of culture, of which preferably two (2) years acquired at the international level.
Proven experience in designing and implementing programmes/projects in the field of culture.
Proven experience in fundraising, resource mobilization and building partnerships.
Skills and Competencies Excellent project management skills.
Excellent capacity to collect, synthesize and analyze information from various sources and to draft documents in a clear and concise manner.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbally and in writing).
Ability to build and maintain working relations with national/local authorities, institutions and relevant intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships in a multicultural environment.
Excellent knowledge of standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).
Knowledge of Results-Based Management tools.
Languages Excellent knowledge of Spanish and English (spoken and written).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSEducation Advanced University degree (PhD or equivalent) in the field of culture, political science, international relations, humanities, law or related field.
Work Experience Experience in the organization and coordination of international workshops, meetings and events.
Experience with specialized agencies of the UN system and/or professional NGOs and/or organizations for international technical cooperation.
Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining professional networks.
Skills and competencies Good knowledge of UNESCO's standard setting instruments and programmes in the field of culture.
Good knowledge of the UNESCO Culture Conventions, Recommendations, and programmes in the field of culture.
Languages Knowledge of another official language of UNESCO (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian).
-BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS- UNESCO's salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc.
The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 86,627 US $.
