About the RoleAs Principal WTS TROC, you will play a key role in leading and managing BHP Minerals Americas Operational Technology (OT) wireless network services and infrastructure. This role is crucial for ensuring the robustness, efficiency, and security of our OT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in LTE, Wi-Fi, Digital Radio Systems, and other wireless networks, service management, and problem-solving to drive operational excellence.
Reporting to the Superintendent Priority Support & Training, you will lead a team of engineers to manage the infrastructure, maximize service availability, and prevent the occurrence of incidents, always putting safety and security first. In this role, you will:
Drive your team to reliably deliver team results and meet KPIs.Generate a team culture of continuous improvement and leading change.Lead the resolution of complex technical issues related to OT WTS services. Implement robust problem-solving methodologies to address root causes and prevent recurrence.Regularly visit operation sites to collaborate with clients and ensure efficient, compliant, and safe mining operations.Conduct regular trend analysis to identify patterns, predict potential issues, and recommend proactive measures. Utilize data-driven insights to optimize performance and reduce downtime.Oversee the asset management and lifecycle of OT WTS services, from planning and deployment to maintenance and decommissioning. Ensure all systems are up-to-date and compliant with BHP standards and updated in BHP configuration database (CMDB).Implement and manage comprehensive vulnerability management. Mitigate security vulnerabilities detected within the OT environment in a timely manner to comply with BHP standards and vendor recommendations.Support the transition to operations execution from projects, ensuring services and assets are properly controlled and integrated.Ensure the expansion and reconfiguration of the network following the mines growth plan.Enable monitoring, event, and alert management processes, facilitating the integration of BHP monitoring tools, defining thresholds, and proposing improvements to detect incidents proactively.Oversee the planning and execution of disaster recovery testing and OT service continuity plan testing for infrastructure and support testing for production applications.Develop and implement maintenance management strategies to ensure the reliability of wireless infrastructure. Coordinate and oversee regular maintenance schedules and manage unplanned maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and engineering, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of OT WTS services with business objectives.Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers. Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.Maintain comprehensive documentation of all wireless network services and activities. Provide regular reports to senior management on performance, issues, and improvement initiatives.About YouYou will be an excellent team player who is also able to work in a stand-alone capacity. You will provide leadership to a team, focused on the management and support of on-site operational technology and systems. You will coach and develop team leaders/teams to deliver high performance. Your oral and written communication skills will be well developed, and you will be able to work collaboratively and build relationships at all levels.
As the preferred candidate, you are a highly logical thinker with excellent analytical and complex problem-solving skills (Including root-cause analysis). You excel at coordinating teams to resolve incidents and prioritize effectively in a high-pressure environment. You are familiar with the advantages of work management and are experienced in the support or implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
Bachelor or higher degrees from STEM schools, Computer Science degree is a plus.10+ years of experience on Technology Infrastructure operation or projects.English level intermediate.Proven experience in leading teams.Strong understanding of OT systems, infrastructure, and best practices.Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Experience on the following:LTE/5G core, RAN and Backhaul.OSS systems (desirable experience with Nokia).Microwave equipment.Radio frequency and antennas.Digital radio.Wi-Fi.Industrial wireless mesh networks.IP networks.Frequency planning.Desirable experience Cybersecurity.Desirable knowledge of ISA-95 standard.Desirable ad-hoc certifications (i.e. CCNA/CCNP, Nokia certifications).Desirable experience in mining, natural resources, or other industrial environments.
