About the RoleReporting to the Lead Principal Inbound Maritime Minerals Americas, this role enables the Inbound Maritime team to operate in a well governed, yet efficient manner, and to provide supply chain expertise in the international inbound freight to our business optimizing the freight choices when procuring goods to deliver bottom line cost savings focusing on the risk lens.
In this role, you will also be responsible for: Working alongside Procurement (re-supply and project) to provide detailed inbound supply chain expertise advising on freight cost choices in the procurement of goods internationally.Applying an understanding of the end-to-end Supply Chain to enhance efficiency, drive optimization, and maximize value.Executing and optimizing shipping practices by applying material, ship and port knowledge.Applying logistics management procedures and requirements to safely and efficiently meet stakeholder demands.Gaining support for and negotiating outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals.Supporting the management of vendor/customer selection, contracts, and performance to maximize operational and financial outcomes and mitigate BHP's exposure to risk.Planning, tracking the delivery of and managing a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.Identifying and assessing risks, making risk informed decisions, using BHP's risk management framework and building a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.Working within a global team based in Americas and Asia-Pacific.About YouTo be a top performer you will need: More than 5+ years' experience in International Logistics or Maritime industry. Additional experience in Supply chain will be a plus.Degree qualified or post graduate qualification studies in Maritime Studies, International Commerce, Maritime Engineering, International Logistics or related to the role.Demonstrated ship chartering experience (3+ years).Extremely detailed oriented and has the ability to work closely and connect effortlessly with all levels of the organization and timely deliver on projects and assigned tasks.Demonstrated experience in challenging supply chain and implementing new ways of working.Experience in working with internal & external stakeholders in other locations.Advanced English and Spanish proficiency.About Our ProcessAt BHP, we are committed to hiring individuals who align with our values charter.
