The Position: The environmental health and safety (EHS) supervisor is responsible for training/supervising employees on subjects such as health and job/workplace safety, hazardous waste, and other occupational and environmental topics.
They work with a variety of employees and routinely manage classroom and on-site safety training programs, as well as ensure that all employees receive the appropriate safety training for the work they perform.
The environmental health and safety supervisor also evaluates and inspects work sites and the workplace to ensure that all applicable safety laws are being followed.
They may work in a variety of settings (both indoor and outdoor) depending on training needs and work sites.
Main activities and Responsibilities: Work with departments to set and reach safety goals, including training.
Inspect and assess work areas, equipment, and processes for safety.
Understand and document compliance with state and federal regulations.
Lead incident response policy development, training, and implementation.
Monitor and anticipate change in the external environment, including regulations, science, and stakeholder positioning.
Collaborate with the facility/location local management on developing and executing the EHS training program for both internal and external parties.
Develop and maintain records necessary to comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Prepare and submit Monthly/Quarterly reports to document compliance activities.
Assist in maintaining environmental and health/safety records.
Develop and implement training programs for all required elements of the EHS Management system.
Supervise all workplaces' Health and Safety controls to prevent incidents, accidents, and occupational illnesses.
Support in planning and monitoring accident alert and rescue services, including first-aid service.
Prepare proposals for improving safety standards and observance thereof.
Follow up on yearly occupational and health exams.
Follow up and supervise PPE delivery, expiration, and replenishment.
Adequate computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Initiate and complete activities leading to new or improved safety methods or processes which have significant impact potential at a program or project level within the assigned area of responsibility.
Function Specific Knowledge: Ability to manage personnel and multiple priorities.
Utilize PPI steps in problem solving.
Know the BSD Quality System and how it relates to PSI.
Strong knowledge of construction-related means and methods, including the ability to comprehend job-site construction tasks and to plan for the application of safety procedures and protocols to those tasks.
Compliance with company and client occupational health and safety standards.
Support in the preparation of safe work procedures, evaluating the risks of the activities to be carried out.
Education and Minimum Requirements: A technical or engineering degree in Health and Safety is required.
3 years exercising functions in similar tasks related to the energy sector.
