About the opportunity SumUp is currently looking for an experienced Money Laundering Officer to join our Chile team. This role will oversee compliance with AML / CTF with the Chilean Financial Intelligence Unit (Unidad de Análisis Financiero—"UAF") as well as the Commission for the Financial Market (CMF) while also leading and overseeing compliance with expansion regions. You'll act as the Money Laundering Officer ensuring we meet all regulatory standards while also developing and enhancing SumUp's AML / CTF Framework. This position will be essential in driving initiatives across the Latam region as well as other expansion countries. What you'll do Ensure Compliance with legislation and regulation applicable to LATAM and Central America: Oversee the application of LATAM and Central America laws and regulations related to financial crime, including money laundering, terrorist financing, anti-bribery, corruption, and fraud prevention. Implementation of New Legislation: Spearhead the rollout of new legislation while working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners. Policy Development: Create and maintain policies in alignment with evolving statutory and regulatory requirements. External Representation: Act as the representative to external entities, including supervisors, national authorities, law enforcement agencies, and other third parties concerning financial crime matters. Internal Investigations: Handle internal reports and referrals, conduct investigations into suspected financial crime activities, and determine whether these suspicions warrant disclosure to Financial Intelligence Units or other relevant agencies. Support in Reporting: Assist the Global Head of AML / CTF in preparing annual reports for senior management on compliance with Money Laundering Regulations. Work closely with the Global Head of AML/Financial Crime Audit to lead and execute strategic objectives, and drive a high-performing function. Support the design and execution of annual risk-based audit plans, ensuring adequate coverage of financial crime risks. Perform deep-dive reviews of all components across the AML/Financial Crime/Economic Sanctions programs. Identify and assess financial crime risks and controls in the context of the firm's business activities. Evaluate the effectiveness of financial crime controls and provide recommendations for improvement. Lead, manage, and oversee auditors on audit engagement, ensuring high technical standards are achieved. Manage stakeholder relationships across the three lines of defense. Preferred Skills: In-depth knowledge of Financial Crime and compliance principles, regulations, and practices. Knowledge of risk management frameworks and experience in a multinational environment. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and customers. Detail-oriented with the ability to review and evaluate specific cases thoroughly. What Success Looks Like in 90 Days Familiarize yourself with applicable regulatory requirements and SumUp's internal policies. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Chilean Financial Intelligence Unit (Unidad de Análisis Financiero—"UAF") and internal teams.
