Field Medical is a disease area expert for inline and pipeline scientific discussions and data dissemination. The purpose of this position is to interact with external stakeholders disseminating the scientific knowledge of Pfizer's products and about respective disease, reports high quality Data Facts and Observations (DFOs) and brings strategic scientifically valuable insights to Medical Affairs and contributing to business strategies. This role is responsible for identifying data generation needs and executing external medical initiatives and stakeholder engagement through scientific discussions. The position serves as the main liaison between external and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities: Provide accurate and balanced scientific information on Pfizer's innovative portfolio/disease area, focusing on pre-launch (at least 6 months before launch) and post-launch phase (till 1 year or as business needed) as well as of competitors and related diseases, meeting medical and scientific needs expressed by external stakeholders. With 90% dedicated to external activities, act as External Ambassador for disease area mainly with Tier 1, Tier 2 HCPs, Clinical sites, and investigators. Senior Field Medical may engage with top KOLs and major institutions (segmentation based on level of projects interest) and Patients Associations & Medical Societies on an Ad Hoc basis. Share internally the insights from the customers, identify opportunities for collaboration to improve patient care, and contribute to medical strategy. Engage and develop partnerships to identify potential projects candidates for Independent Medical Grants and Collaborative Trials. Coordinate the technical aspects related to scientific events (non-promotional or promotional) based on MA01 policy guidance, electing and training the speakers and assuring the ethics and scientific correctness of the provided information. Cultivate research and therapeutic area expertise, including familiarity with the latest congress data and disease state literature. Role Description: The Medical & Scientific Liaison (MSL) function is responsible for creating scientific partnerships with local KOLs through a qualified approach that results in access and advocacy based on scientific evidence. The MSL is accountable for executing the medical plan and medical-to-medical communication plan that supports the strategic operating goals for the business. Assistance and scientific support to HCPs and Stakeholders within the panel, including physicians, researchers, and opinion leaders, assuring compliance within Pfizer and governance policies. MSLs will be in charge of delivering updated scientific information to all healthcare professionals. Primary purpose is to establish and maintain peer-to-peer relationships and scientific exchange with leading physicians, referred to as Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), at major academic institutions, societies, hospitals, and other healthcare centers. MSLs will have constant cross-functional interactions with different members of the BU and other supporting areas. REQUIRED SKILL SET: Medical Degree Medical or scientific qualification (Ph.D. or Pharm.D.) M.D. preferred. Medical training or clinical experience in the therapeutic area desirable. Desirable: Industry experience (at least one year of experience as MSL). Education, Skills, and Academic Experience: Master's in the Pharma Industry, Biotechnology or others desirable. Proven experience in a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company within an MSL or similar role desirable. Background/experience within therapeutic area desirable. Working knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Legal and compliance environment. Strong customer orientation, science-based. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (scientific and non-scientific). Willingness to travel as it is a field-based role. Possesses a valid driver's license. Strong project management skills and capacity to work under strict deadlines. Previous experience in medical writing, submission of papers, peer-to-peer review papers preferred. Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a multi-functional team. Computer skills. OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND HABILITIES: Fluency in English (both written and spoken). Audience Management. Oriented to business. Technical Management in Microsoft Office (365). Good understanding of the local healthcare environment. Knowledge of the relevant and applicable Codes of Practice and conduct such as FCPA, SOPs, regulations, and guidelines as they apply to the function. Good understanding of drug development, clinical research, medical decision making, and health environment. Good knowledge of pharmacovigilance and regulatory legislation and how it impacts the product portfolio. Good knowledge of drug development processes. Good understanding of Clinical Research. Knowledge of Health Economics, Pharmacovigilance, and regulatory legislation.
