The Logistics Operations Assistant will provide administrative and operational support to the Operations Department in Punta Arenas.
This role involves managing air and sea cargo, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude, intermediate to advanced English proficiency, and a strong willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities: Update the status of air and sea shipments.Manage cargo in transit and ensure smooth coordination.Utilize internal Maersk systems (e.g., Microsoft List) to maintain accurate records, including cost control sheets and invoices.Assist with documentation tasks such as purchase order requests, invoice entries, certification processing, and internal documentation issuance.Support the handling of temperature-controlled shipments, ensuring compliance with specific requirements for shipments from Punta Arenas to the USA.Communicate effectively with suppliers, including transport providers, local authorities (e.g., customs, port authorities), and other stakeholders.Monitor and maintain the inventory of materials essential for operations.Perform general administrative tasks, including errands, purchases, and miscellaneous support for the office.Stakeholders: Internal operations team.External suppliers, including transportation providers and local authorities.Clients: Maersk Projects Logistics (USA) and final client from USA.Qualifications: Minimum of a technical degree or higher education.
Relevant experience in logistics, administration, or import/export is a plus.Intermediate English proficiency (mandatory) for clear communication with U.S. based clients and stakeholders.Basic to intermediate Excel skills for updating cargo itineraries and controlling costs (formulas, basic mathematical functions).Knowledge or willingness to learn technical aspects of import/export and administrative tasks.Skills and Competencies: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence to liaise with multiple stakeholders, including port authorities and customs.Proactive team player who integrates well into a small, collaborative team environment.Attention to detail and a results-driven approach.Ability to handle pressure and manage time effectively.
