Job Summary: In this role, the candidate will be responsible for mechanical packages, Materials and/or Services requisitions in mineral concentration and/or processing plants with the ability to prepare typical technical bidding documents, such as Design Criteria, Technical Specifications, Calculation Reports, Equipment List, MTO, MR's, SR's, Data Sheets, etc.
This role will participate and/or lead meetings with clients and suppliers to define the scope of work; as well as the technical and design definitions of the equipment and/or systems, be able to perform quantity estimates and Capex/Opex support on the mechanical scopes of a project. This role will lead the design, development, modification and/or evaluation of components and/or mechanical packages, ensuring a correct interrelation with other disciplines. Their recommendations will lead to resolution of technical issues and ensure that the unique and complex requirements of the mechanical aspects of a project are met.
Major Responsibilities: Carrying out the design of equipment and mechanical systems for mining industry projects, including pumps (water and sludge distribution networks), grinding, flotation, thickening and other related circuits. Performing calculations and analyzes that lead to technical design recommendations. Preparing material requests, specifications, data sheets, technical evaluations and other technical documents related to mechanical equipment acquisitions. Developing the entire management process for the technical evaluation of suppliers and mechanical equipment and systems for tenders. Coordinating with mechanical designers to produce designs and drawings according to project standards. Coordinating with P&ID mechanical designers to produce drawings according to project standards. Coordinating work and collaborating with other disciplines and engineering areas of the company. This involves coordinating mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialized groups, engineering disciplines, the customer, supplier, contractors, construction, and other functional groups. Preparing conceptual studies, designs, reports, estimates and/or proposals. Providing technical support to other mechanical personnel and interact with project and client functions, to resolve complex regulatory issues with knowledge of industry codes and standards. Aiding project and/or construction management to identify and meet project mechanical requirements and address issues that arise during project execution. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, and a minimum of 10 years of relevant and specific work experience in mining (mandatory).
Required Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of engineering, standards and design of equipment for copper concentration plants, such as: Crushers, Mills, Screens, Flotation Cells, Thickeners, etc., which are applied in projects and processes of the mining industry (mandatory). Knowledge of engineering, standards and design of ponds, chutes, bins, etc. and typical boiler making elements used in mining processes (mandatory). Knowledge of the development and analysis of water and pulp network calculations (mandatory). Knowledge of developing calculations for air networks, air conditioning and fire protection systems (desirable). Field experience in the mining industry (valued as an additional advantage). Proven experience in mechanical equipment required in mining processes is an essential requirement. The candidate must effectively apply technical knowledge and skills to solve a variety of problems, complete tasks/assignments, and provide guidance and advice. The candidate must have sufficient experience and capabilities to act with desirable professional autonomy according to the years of experience required in this position. Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks and demonstrated skills in oral and written communication. Advanced intermediate level of oral and written English (demonstrable).
