The mining area is located 185 km southeast of Iquique, at 4,400 meters above sea level, in Tarapacá Region. The main objective of Doña Inés de Collahuasi's project is to increase the concentrator's throughput capacity from an average of 170 ktpd to 210 ktpd. Currently, the awarded service corresponds to the execution of Package PG1 - the first of three packages contemplated for this project - which involves the detailed engineering and procurement (EP) of six flotation cells, and on-site support during the construction phase. Service for package PG1, which began on August 1, 2023, is a continuation of the study phase (FEL3) and is expected to be completed in February 2025.
Job Summary: In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's electrical engineering aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project's electrical engineering aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities: Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.Participating in the design, development and modification of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).Coordinating work and collaborating with other engineering disciplines.Coordinating electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.Preparing conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.Providing technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.Providing assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.Education and Experience Requirements: Level 1: Requires bachelor's degree in Civil Electrical Engineering, and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.Level 2: Requires bachelor's degree in Civil Electrical Engineering, and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.Required Knowledge and Skills: Experience in studies of power electrical systems for large copper mining projects using ETAP software.Experience in the elaboration of reports of different electrical studies:-Load Flow-Motor Starting-Arc Flash-GroundingGood knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and particularly in Chilean Standard.For decades, Bechtel has worked to inspire the next generation of engineers and beyond!
