This role provides leadership to teams focused on achieving critical business milestones in ways that reflect BHP´s global Indigenous Peoples strategy, while also enhancing BHP's reputation, managing non-technical risks and contributing to social value creation. The role translates strategy into operational plans for the department in the pursuit of operational excellence.**Main Accountabilities**:- Applies an understanding of the end-to-end External Affairs value chain to enhance efficiency, drive optimization, and maximize value for BHP.- Mitigates people, community, human rights and modern slavery, environmental and climate risks across the value chain, in alignment with public policy and our sustainability and climate commitments.- Plans, tracks the delivery of and manages a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.- Conducts presentations and facilitates workshops using storytelling to connect, influence and engage the audience.- Gains support for and negotiates outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals.- Sources information, plans and conducts analyses to support evidence-based decision making.- Designs and implements governance/assurance practices and Management of Change procedures to control value outcomes across BHP.- Applies an understanding of the business context, BHP operating model and ways of working to enhance decision making, productivity and value chain performance.- Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation.- Knows our customer and is obsessed with meeting their needs.- About You**To be a top performer you will need**:- Professional degree related to the field.- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience and a minimum of 5 years' experience in leading Indigenous engagement strategies and delivery on resource development projects.- Knowledge and experience with Indigenous consultation processes in Chile, related legislation and policy, and international standards for Indigenous engagement such as the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the concept of Free, Prior and Informed Consent- Knowledge and experience in the mining (or related) sector, particularly in relation to regulatory processes, environmental assessments, risk management and international standards on sustainability.- Proven ability to establish relationships with Indigenous communities and associations in Chile based on trust, partnership, and mutual respect.- Intermediate English proficiency (desirable).**Supporting a Diverse Workforce**The size, stability and magnitude of our business not only provides significant opportunity for professional development, but also attractive salary packages with performance-based bonuses and a best-in-class employee share program.
