Job Summary: This role will be responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of design on a project to incorporate that information into the P&ID diagrams. Knowing applicable industry standards and codes, accepting design practices and quality standards for a global business unit. Major Responsibilities: Supporting and reviewing and/or preparing P&ID diagrams (Equipment, lines, valves, Instrumentation & Control), flow diagrams (PFD's) and if required drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) designing models and construction drawings. Supporting to generate List of lines, valves and mechanical equipment. Monitoring and checking work for compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy. Preparing design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort. Coordinating or making jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents. Reviewing or defining engineering scope changes, as required, for project management. Endorsing or preparing reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use. Maintaining up-to-date skills in Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) relevant to designing work and ensuring that maximum use is made thereof. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a Higher Level Technician degree or similar, in Design and/or Drawing of Engineering projects, with experience as a Technical Designer or Designer in a mechanical discipline, with desirable courses and/or specialized training in drawing, design, standards and/or practices engineering design and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of equipment and material fabrication sequencing. Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline's design responsibilities. Knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline. Knowledge of discipline Design Guides, mathematical formulas and design calculations used in the discipline. Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort. Knowledge of procedures used for the procurement and quantity control of bulk materials applicable to the discipline. Knowledge of BSAPs applicable to the specific discipline work. Skill in oral and written communication. Advanced written and spoken English (Desirable). Operate with desirable professional autonomy.
