The Work You'll Do: The Product Management Director has the primary mission of establishing and optimizing best practices within the Product Management team, fostering a culture of operational excellence that promotes the continuous professional growth of Product Managers. By implementing customer-focused methodologies like Product Discovery, this role empowers the team to make informed, strategic decisions that align with both short- and mid-term business objectives. The Director will lead the development and execution of the product strategy, ensuring the portfolio meets customer, market, and industry needs while driving long-term business growth. Additionally, this role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product success, all while positioning Product Managers as key leaders in the company's evolution and competitiveness. As Director, Product Management, you will work closely with other Sovos senior leaders to articulate and substantiate decisions regarding go-to-market strategies, product roadmaps, operations readiness, and sales enablement. You will engage with leaders across the organization, gather input from internal and external resources, and weigh them against business objectives to ensure our product lifecycle is maximized to exceed sales goals and achieves strong client satisfaction and retention levels. More specifically, you will: Product Management Guide and mentor product managers, fostering their growth and development within the team. Lead continuous product discovery practices to validate ideas, prioritize features, and ensure a clear understanding of customer pain points. Continuously improve product management processes to enhance team efficiency and product outcomes. Define and communicate the mid-term product strategy that aligns with overall business goals. Leverage market research, customer feedback, and data analytics to make informed product decisions. Regularly evaluate product roadmaps and adjust based on market feedback and performance. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with leadership teams to ensure product goals are aligned with the company's strategic objectives. Collaborate with product development, marketing, sales, and customer support to ensure smooth execution and delivery of product initiatives. Serve as the primary point of contact between the product managers team and other departments. Market and Competitive Analysis Monitor and analyze product performance in the market to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Conduct ongoing market and competitive research to stay ahead of industry trends and inform strategic decisions. Assess the feasibility and viability of new product opportunities and provide data-driven recommendations to leadership. Performance and Metrics Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure product success and market fit. Provide regular reports and updates to senior leadership on product performance and market and industry dynamics. Customer-Centric Focus Deep knowledge of key customer success metrics (e.g., engagement, retention, and churn). Use these metrics to prioritize product discovery, design, and improvements that directly impact customer satisfaction. Gather and incorporate customer feedback into the product management and development processes to continuously enhance product usability and offerings. What we need from you: 10+ years of progressive experience within the software industry; experience working within the compliance industry preferred. 5+ years of experience leading and developing outstanding people. Periodic travel required to Sovos locations or events. Exceptional business development, business management, and leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork, ability to foster/manage relationships across multiple departments/stakeholders. Excellent organizational and communication skills, including the ability to lead presentations. Track record of exceeding expectations leading product management processes including visioning, customer/competitor research, strategic planning, business modeling, and product definition. International experience, both in terms of working in a globally distributed team with many different cultures and internationalization of the products is a plus.
