Bechtel is acting as Project Management Consultant (PMC) for Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi's C20+, which will install a desalination plant at Puerto Patache (Tarapacá region) that will optimize the current operation and extend its useful life. Water from this plant will be transported via a pipeline from the coast to the mine site, located at 4,400 meters above sea level. The water supply system's scope includes the supply of lined pipe, marine works and desalination, pump stations and pipelines, as well as the electrical transmission system and camps. As PMC, Bechtel will manage engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and other activities, including control and verification that all work performed by contractors complies with the schedule, specifications, regulations, codes, standards and engineering practices identified in the contracts.
Job Summary: In this role, you will have the responsibility to direct, coordinate and supervise the contractor's compliance with the commissioning and commissioning activities associated with, but not limited to, High Voltage (HV) within the deadlines determined by the project control and with the quality that guarantees the perfect functioning of the client's facilities.
Major Responsibilities: Planning, scheduling, directing, or coordinating detailed phases of a project's commissioning, operations, or maintenance, including designing reviews for plant operability and safety and on-site commissioning and pre-commissioning tasks, as directed.Collaborating in the preparation of pre-operations and commissioning manuals and/or manuals.Coordinating activities involving the national electricity authority.Planning and preparing the administrative and technical project documents required for commissioning, maintenance, operation and testing.Coordinating the start-up between the project engineering, construction, specialized personnel groups, customers and suppliers.Assuming a leadership role over other engineers for specific assigned tasks. Can direct general start-up activities on specific tasks.Training the assigned staff and helping them in their professional development.Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelors' degree in an electrical engineering discipline from an accredited university.A sufficient number of specialization courses in the area.Experience of more than 7 years in similar areas.Hands-on work experience of at least 5 years in commissioning, energizations or other relevant engineering experience in design, construction, field engineering or operation of power generating plants or electrical substations.Required Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of the configuration schemes of high voltage substations.Mastery of the protection and control schemes used in high voltage substations.Mastery of communication protocols and standards used by FDI's in substations and electrical rooms.Knowledge of the market standards and practices regarding the testing of primary and secondary equipment for high, medium and low voltage.Knowledge of national and international electrical and occupational health and safety regulations that apply to the performance of their duties.Technical knowledge of commissioning, operation, maintenance and testing.Knowledge of engineering systems, start-up and operations applications and basic knowledge of computer application to engineering problems.Extensive knowledge of precedents in the area of start-up or operations and good knowledge of the principles and practices of related areas.Good knowledge of industry standards and design criteria relevant to plant or equipment operations.Proficiency in oral and written communication.For decades, Bechtel has worked to inspire the next generation of engineers and beyond!
