The UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO Santiago) mission is to lead, monitor, and provide technical support to the countries in the region to advance towards the fulfillment of SDG 4. A. Background OREALC/UNESCO Santiago recurrently requires consultants to provide support to the section in specific projects aimed at strengthening and supporting national and regional capacities in the development of teacher policies and frameworks, quality teacher training and professional development programs. B. Objectives Support the development of the regional teacher strategy of OREALC/UNESCO Santiago and its implementation plan, in line with relevant global and regional strategies. C. Functions Provide technical and operational support for the formulation, management, planning, and implementation of ongoing projects related to teacher education. Assume roles of liaison with relevant external collaborating partners. Work in an integrated manner with colleagues of OREALC/UNESCO Santiago and liaise with UNESCO Offices in Latin America and the Caribbean. Contribute to the analysis of policies related to teachers and their education. Develop thematic documents on policies, teacher education, and professional development. Provide technical assistance to countries and regional organizations. Prepare follow-up reports on section's projects related to teachers. Provide technical and administrative support for the publication process according to UNESCO guidelines. Prepare terms of reference for services that may be necessary. Support the writing of reports, materials, and correspondence in Spanish and English. Carry out any other task related to the functions established for the position. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Postgraduate studies (Master's or equivalent) in Education or related disciplines. Proven substantive work experience in teacher policies and frameworks. Proven substantive work experience in project coordination and management. Extensive previous experience in research. Superior skills in self-management and teamwork. Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS A relevant PhD. Publications on teaching topics. Knowledge of Portuguese or French. Work experience in teaching topics at the international level. Experience or knowledge about the situation of teaching personnel in the region. REMARKS Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
